On the weekend of March 13th, I attended the Pennzoil Thunder Nationals
at the Richmond Coliseum, in downtown Richmond Virginia.
This was my first time to a Thunder nationals show, so I
didn't know what to expect.
I would soon find out what a Thunder nationals show was all
about.
Pit Party at the Richmond Coliseum
The day started off with a pit party, which was from 4:30-6:30pm.
My friend Cindy Fowler and I, arrived at 5:30pm with the pit party
in full swing. We where given free passes from our good friend Bobby
Goodman at Pennzoil (after begging him for about three months for them).
Pennzoil was busy at the pit party giving away all kinds off free
stuff. Pace Motorsports had assembled
six of the finest Monster Trucks to do battle in the Coliseum.
The Trucks that had come to do battle, where :-
Little Tiger
Gate Keeper
Bulldozer
Ground Pounder
Grave Digger
Carolina Crusher
Little Tiger was driven by Brian Barthel, Gate Keeper by ???, Ground
Pounder by Steve Woodard, Grave Digger, driven by Chuck Pauken, Tim Tesmer
and his Carolina Crusher and Kirk Dabney with his Bulldozer truck.
Also in attendance were the Kamikazee four wheeler and Transaurus.
It looked like it was going to be a really good show.
