On August 29th 1998, the relative silence of Shenandoah Valley,
Virginia
was interrupted by the violent thunder of 1500hp alcohol burning engines.
This was saturday night at the Page County Fair, where five top
Monster Trucks came together to do battle at the fairgrounds.
The trucks there, where G-Force
driven by Alan Tura from Warren, Ohio. Virginia Giant, driven by Diehl
Wilson from Winchester, Virginia. Thunder Dog driven by Larry Meyerhoeffer
from Port Republic, Virginia. West
Virginia Mountaineer, driven by Robert Gray out of Rippon West Virginia,
and Gary Porters Carolina
Crusher from Wadesboro, North Carolina. There was also the Virginia
Giant Ride truck, giving out free rides before the show started.

The show started shortly after 7pm. After the driver introductions,
it was straight down to qualifying.
Carolina Crusher won qualifying with an impressive time.
