TRUCK NAME: BIGFOOT 2/ Safarifoot Snakebite
MAKE: F250 Ford Pickup, (built in 1982)
OWNER/DRIVER: Bob Chandler
TOWN/CITY:St Louis, MO
ENGINE SIZE: 460 cubic inches Ford
INFORMATION: BIGFOOT 2 was the second monster truck built by Bob Chandler
in the summer of 1982. This truck made it's debut at the Silverdome in Pontiac,
with the now standard 66" tires. This truck has also worn the tires
of BIGFOOT
5 & even had double 66" tires on, for when it had a race with
a paddlewheel riverboat on a river in Columbus, Georgia in 1985.
The truck also toured Australia in 1989. But as the progression of monster
trucks evolved, the older trucks are not capable of racing with todays,
lightweight trucks. So in 1992 the truck was converted to the BIGFOOT
Safarifoot. The truck was fitted with ten seats in the back of the truck,
& a roll cage covering them for safety reasons. Making what was once
a dream for many people, of riding in BIGFOOT, turn into reality. For a
small fee you can ride in the back of the truck as it drives over cars,
crushing all in it's path, as it drives through mud pits & over hills,
giving you the experience, which was once only felt by the drivers of these
beasts. It currently sports a green Snakebite body.
This was also the truck which was featured in the 1983 film Cannonball Run 2.
It was seen driving over a Porche 928 at the start of the race, & later on in
the film at the side of the road with a flat tire. When it had to drive over
the Porche they had a set of steps the other side of the car for the other
set of tires to drive over as the car was to narrow for the truck to drive over.
