11th Annual 4-wheel Jamboree Nationals

Saturday July 11th 1998
Saturdays saw racing in the afternoon & early evening. Special
Events officials decided to change the format of the racing from the obstacle
course to Chicago style racing. This is where two trucks go around the
same course but start at the opposite end, on the opposite side. So basically
they are chasing each other. This allowed the drivers to still use
their turning skills & also use the power of their machines. Afternoon
racing consisted of Chicago style racing then straight line racing. The
evening racing consisted of straight line & then freestyle.
 First
round racing saw Samson beat Sudden Impact, Grave Digger beat Bulldozer
& Black Stallion beat Overkill, after both Grave Digger & Overkill
messed up on the turns. BIGFOOT beat Nitemare.
Semi-final action saw Grave Digger beat Samson, but with more mechanical
problems, Grave Digger was unable to compete in the finals, so Samson came
back & went into the finals against BIGFOOT who beat Black Stallion.
 
With BIGFOOT having won the straight line the night before, most
of the crowd where cheering on Dan Patrick in Samson to win. Dan who's
past experiances at Blomsburg have been ones of great achivments
of either of winning, or crashing his truck in sensational style,
achived his first win of the weekend.
In the straight line drag racing, first round action saw Grave Digger
beating Sudden  Impact
& Samson beating Nitemare. BIGFOOT went up against Overkill in a dramatic
race, which saw BIGFOOT win but ended with a sensational crach by Kirk Dabney
in Overkill. Click here

Crash pictures. After the track was cleared of the wrecked Overkill
truck, racing continued with Black Stallion beating Buldozer.
Semi final racing saw Samson beating the crowd favouriteGrave Digger.
With mechanical problems, Black Stallion was unable to get fixed in time
to race BIGFOOT, so officals brought back Bulldozer to race him. Guy Wood
in Bulldozer was unable to preform as well as he had done the night
before, & lost out to Dan Runte in BIGFOOT.
With Saturdays straight line finals coming down to the two same trucks
as the Chicago style racing, Dan Runte in BIGFOOT had somthing to prove,
to Dan Patrick in Samson. And he did. Dan won the race giving him his second
Straight line win of the weekend.
 To
End the afternoon racing Mike Vaters in Black Stallion had fixed his truck,
& gave the crowd a preview of the evenings Freestyle racing by doing
a wheelie across the bottom half of the infield.
