  Making a Monster Truck

Bandit

TRUCK NAME : Bandit (originally a Carolina Crusher truck)
    Bandit
    MAKE :Chevrolet Pickup

    OWNER : Steve Griffin

    DRIVER : Steve Flaherty

    TOWN/CITY : Surrey, England

ENGINE SIZE : 512 Cubic Inch Chevy big block

INFORMATION : The Goliath Monster Truck was originally a Carolina Crusher truck, owned by Gary Porter.
The truck was sold to English Promoter & Stuntman, Steve Griffin, who tours around the UK, with his fleet of Haulers carrying cars, vans, motorcycles, Jet powered robots & Monster Trucks, as a part of the Hollywood Stunt show.
In 1998 the truck did display crushing at venues, all across the UK, driven & maintained by Steve. The truck did hundreds of shows, many day after day. This put an enormous strain on the truck & especially the engine.
When I met up with them, they had been having problems with the rear wheel steering. The automatic centering wasn't working properly. But they soon sorted it out.
Stevetold me that they had to replace the engine at one show, & they used a fork lift  truck to lift it into the truck. As the fork lift raised to lift the new engine into the truck, it was to close to the front of it & ripped off the front grill of the truck. As a grill is not readily available in the UK, as Chevrolet's are not sold over here, a piece of fiberglass was put in place as a temporary measure until one could be shipped over from the USA, to replace the broken one.
The truck was stripped down over the winter, ready to be put into action, at shows all across the UK again.
